An examination of the emergence of the discipline and contemporary theoretical issues and perspectives. Major theories in the study of human nature and culture will be discussed in their historical contexts. Special attention will be given to cultural ecology, structuralism, structural-functionalism, political economy, symbolic anthropology, post-structuralism, reflexive anthropology. (DS)
