An in-depth study of the art of the nineteenth century in
Europe from NeoClassicism to PostImpressionism. The focus of
the course will be on France and Western Europe, but some
time will be spent comparing the art of other countries and
discussing their influences on Western European art.
Geographic, philosophical, religious and political
influences on the arts of the times will be explored.
