Learning Objectives: * Define, give examples of, and use correctly the following word parts used in building and analyzing medical terms: prefixes, suffixes, word roots, and combining forms. * Correctly use plural endings for medical terms. * Correctly define, spell, and correlate selected medical terms dealing with: 1. Body structure; 2. Anatomical planes and regions; 3. Blood and the immune system; 4. Cardiovascular and lymphatic systems; 5. Respiratory, digestive, urinary, and reproductive systems; 6. Musculoskeletal system; 7. Nervous system and psychological disorders; 8. Integumentary and endocrine systems. * Define and give examples of terminology used for surgical and diagnostic procedures and pathology. * Build medical terms by correctly putting word parts together. * Analyze the components of medical words and derive the meaning of words. * State the meaning of common medical abbreviations and pharmacological terms. * Analyze and define terms dealing with various medical and dental specialities.
