AMST 201 - American Experience: Institutions and Movements
Associated Term: Spring 2018
Learning Objectives: * Identify the continuity of some American values in an historical context. * Examine and evaluate the significance of ethnic, racial, and cultural diversity in American life. * Identify and analyze major themes in selected narrative, dramatic, and cinematic works dealing with the American experience. * Identify and examine specific American social movements and their significance. * Identify and describe the issues involved in socio-economic inequality, and the possibilities of social mobility in America. * Write essays that identify and elaborate specific American cultural values. * Develop and defend value judgements. * Express ideas clearly, orally and in writing.
