Service-learning (SL) and community engagement link classroom curriculum to ‘āina-based and culturally appropriate education with hands-on experiential learning opportunities. SL connects real world problem-based learning with a focus on career pathways in order to match the needs of community partners and leads to student success. The SL course designation offers students high quality service learning experiences in their courses with a minimum of 15 hours of service in community, and 5 hours of reflection and/or writing connecting the service with the course curriculum.

In addition to the field time scheduled for this class, students will participate in practicum hours at an organization, based on the student's and organizations availability.
