Prereq: Qualified for ENG 100. This is a distance education (100% online) course that requires a separate Medical Language Lab resources, which is included with a new copy of textbook.

This section of HLTH 140 is online and is designated for Early College students at Kapaa High School.

This course provides students with an introduction to medical terminology related to human body systems. Students will gain a basic understanding of how medical terms are formed, defined, pronounced and interpreted in the medical field. Normal human anatomy, function, and pathology as well as related medical tests and procedures will also be explored.

This course will be offered as a distance education online delivery. Students MUST have access to a computer, the Internet, Zoom, web camera, audio (mic), and use of their UH hawaii.edu e-mail account to participate in this class. This class requires the use of Laulima. Some class sessions will be offered synchronously through the World Wide Web at the scheduled times via Zoom on days selected by the instructor. On days when Zoom sessions are not scheduled, you will be expected to complete work asynchronously using Laulima. First scheduled synchronous meeting day will be determined during the first week of class.
